In 1843, Franz Pipersberg was one of the first in Germany to set up a small production company for gas meters. With his precise and conscientious work, he laid the foundation for the Pipersberg jr. company, which is well-known in Germany today. Ltd. With the increasingly advanced development of his products, Franz Pipersberg gradually switched his production from manual to machine work. Since then, the company has been successfully developing its product range in line with market requirements.
In the first years of its existence, the company only manufactured wet gas meters. This design developed from the smallest sizes for households to the oversized station meters for large-scale gas metering. At that time, the product range also included ignition and extinguishing timers, remote igniters and pressure wave generators for street lighting.
In order to meet the requirements of the market at the time, the company also decided to manufacture water meters in 1885. In addition to the first single-jet volume water meters, which were later followed by multi-jet water meters, the company was the first in Germany to manufacture ring-piston volume water meters.
With the establishment of the state-approved test centers GH/50 for gas meters and WH/50 for water meters, meters have been certified in-house since 1972.
